    In long hallways, either or both and/or other things. You can break up the wall length with wood moldings and add rugs along the floor. Until fairly recently, all wood floors were oak and every style of furniture was set on it. Now that so many more flooring options and colors are being used, the floor color is being given more consideration, but since oak flooring is so common, people still tend not to see it, so I wouldn’t give it a lot of weight in decor decisions. Besides, you can always put down an area rug, which then is, effectively, the flooring element you’re working with. I don’t understand your question as to end tables and window treatments. There are no end tables in dining rooms, and window treatments can be the same or a contrasting color to floors (and end tables). (Oak is my least favorite furniture wood, so I’ll add that you can stain it if you’re not thrilled with it.) The flooring plays a much lesser role in choosing window treatments and furniture than other room elements. just my opinions
