You will be the envy of your neighbours when they see you lying in the sunshine in your hammock. In fact, these days as hammocks are now so quick and easy to put up, the hardest thing involved is choosing one, deciding which kind of hammock would be best for you, you can even get indoor hammocks these days. A lot of retailers actually divide their hammocks up into categories depending on what they are made of, in most cases the materials being rope, string or fabric.
Many people will recognise the type called Mayan hammocks; these are made up of string and are always hand woven. As these hammocks originate from Central America, they are named after the Mayan culture. It is amazing to think that even after all this time since the Mayans started using hammocks, and that we still find them today. Remembering previous holidays is always fun and I think that to some extent a Mayan hammock can help you recall a tropical, gorgeous holiday that you have been on! Many people ask why I love the Mayan so much and one reason is because it does not give you any unsightly lines on your skin when you get up from it, unlike rope hammocks for instance.
There is no cause for worrying about extra weight when packing up a string hammock, with it being so light, you can take it most places! Even though they may look somewhat slight, these hammocks are actually a lot tougher than they appear. No one should ever worry about how sturdy a hammock is going to be, although designs have changed over the years, from the time when they were meant to have a whole family sleep in them, they will still hold a lot of weight! I now know that a good hammock will always have the secret of a good spread.If you are not able to hang the hammock from a tree in your yard then there is no need to worry as a hammock stand is very easy to find these days. Truth is, you cannot get much more traditional than a Mexican hammock, or my favourite the Hennessy hammock.
Spreader bars can be used if you like your hammock to feel a bit firmer and wider, however I personally prefer the hammock when it is a bit slack as I feel it is cosier! Although cotton is one of the more commonly used fabrics for fabric hammocks, there are also a lot of differet fabrics to choose from. You should be able to have this type of hammock for a long time as they are so very durable. Having marks left on your skin by hammocks is not desirable, so this type is good as, like the string hammocks, the do not leave these marks. As the hammock becomes more popular with your entire family, you must ensure that you manage to book your time on it to chill out! One of the disadvantage of using a fabric hammock when it is very hot, is that things tend to get a bit sweaty and uncomfortable as the fabric tends to not offer good enough ventilation!
When buying a hammock I always feel very happy at the price. If it is cheapness you are after then yes, a typical rope hammock is what you should go for but if you do not mind spending that extra bit more than you should definitely buy a Mayan hammock!! There is nothing better then Internet shopping when looking for hammocks that are on sale or have been discounted as you can find come unbelievable deals and when you are lying back in your newly purchased hammock you will not regret it!
